We are honored to name our scholarship program after the late Dr. Joseph M. Betz, a remarkable Villanova University Philosophy Professor who dedicated decades of his life to teaching men at Graterford prison. His unwavering commitment to education and belief in second chances has been a beacon of hope for many and continues to inspire us.
Dr. Joseph M. Betz believed in the transformative power of education. He saw beyond the prison walls and the societal labels, recognizing the potential in each of his students. His teachings went beyond philosophy and extended to lessons of resilience, empathy, and personal growth.
In naming our scholarship after Dr. Joseph M. Betz, we aim to honor his legacy and continue his mission. This scholarship is more than just financial aid; it's a testament to the belief that everyone deserves access to education, regardless of their circumstances.
Just as Dr. Joseph M. Betz did, we see potential in the children of incarcerated parents. We believe in their ability to rise above their challenges, and we are committed to providing them with the opportunities they need to do so.
Through the Dr. Joseph M. Betz Memorial Scholarship, we hope to empower these children to pursue their educational dreams, just as Dr. Joseph M. Betz empowered his students within the prison walls. In this way, his inspiring work continues, reaching new generations and changing lives one student at a time.
