Joseph M. Betz Memorial Scholarship

We are honored to name our scholarship program after the late Dr. Joseph M. Betz, a remarkable Villanova University Philosophy Professor who dedicated decades of his life to teaching men at Graterford prison. His unwavering commitment to education and belief in second chances has been a beacon of hope for many and continues to inspire us.

Dr. Joseph M. Betz believed in the transformative power of education. He saw beyond the prison walls and the societal labels, recognizing the potential in each of his students. His teachings went beyond philosophy and extended to lessons of resilience, empathy, and personal growth.
